Department of Economics:
The Department of Economics as a part of Namrup College came into existence in 1973. From then onwards B.A Honors in Economics and Economics as a subject in the senior secondary is being offered by the department.
The study of Economics as a
discipline encourages analytical thinking and a pragmatic approach to Economic
problem. In addition to provide a strong foundation in Economic theory, the
focus is on issues specific to both Indian and International context. The
process of rational decision making taught in Economics is of great value irrespective
of the career a person chooses.
The department functions with its
three-fold objective of teaching, learning and research in a conducive
education ecosystem. It is geared towards promoting principled, positive and
interactive educational experience for an all-round personality development of
students. At the core of our education is a commitment to academic excellence
and lifelong learning.
The primary mission of the
Department of Economics at Namrup college
is to provide a high-quality education in economics and financial
economics to future leaders of industry, government and civil society and to
ensure that our students have the integrative and critical thinking skills as
well as quantitative and qualitative abilities to analyze complex domestic
economic, social and global problems and also have the necessary interpersonal,
communication and leadership skills so that they can function as responsible
citizens and effective leaders and prepare themselves to navigate the real
world complexities. The department also aims to foster original intellectual
growth of students as well as faculty through faculty-faculty and
faculty-student research collaborations in projects, surveys etc .
The department envisions to
cultivate a holistic learning educational ecosystem. It relies on a variety of
cost-effective teaching pedagogies, survey, field studies, peer-to-peer
learning, micro teaching, smart classrooms etc.
